accessiBe’s Nonprofit Partnership Program collaborates with hundreds of disability-focused organizations to share the stories and missions that are changing the world.
For the month of May, we’d like to share these 5 incredible organizations that are making a real change.
Introducing: Elder Care Alliance
Mission: Elder Care Alliance is committed to celebrating the lives of each community member. Well-being and dignity are extremely important as people get older and as a nonprofit provider of housing for the older population, Elder Care Alliance uses innovative approaches to create an enriching environment for the people in their care.
Partnership Takeaways: Partnering with Elder Care Alliance has taught us the urgency of caring for our aging population, many of whom live alone and in poverty, while costs of food and shelter keep rising. Elder Care Alliance’s community programs, such as the Mercy Brown Bag program help engage hundreds of volunteers through food distribution directly to the community and help create a direct impact.

Introducing: Imerman Angels
Mission: Imerman Angels provides free personalized one-on-one cancer support to cancer fighters, survivors, previvors, and caregivers through its unique matching process anywhere in the world. They connect people looking for support with a custom-selected Mentor Angel whose life experience and diagnosis are similar to theirs, or to their loved ones. The organization doesn't use an algorithm or an app but creates magical connections through the human touch, giving people their own guardian angel through the cancer experience.
Partnership Takeaways: Partnering with Imerman Angels has taught us the power of numbers. After being featured on CNN in 2012, over 600 people reached out to join their mission and since then they have expanded to over 113 countries and continue to add 1,000 new volunteers a year.

Mission: Happy Smiles Training is an award-winning disabled people's-led social enterprise. They provide training for schools, community groups, and businesses, led by people who live with disabilities. Their work has positively impacted over 12,000 people so far and they have been recognized as one of the most influential disability organizations in the UK.
Partnership Takeaways: Happy Smiles Training shared with us the importance of planting the seeds of why inclusion matters at a young age and starting the conversation as early as possible. They have led training programs for children as young as three years old to create more compassion and understanding around disabilities and differences.

Introducing: Noble
Mission: Noble provides services and therapies that, over time, have evolved to meet the changing needs of the Central and Eastern Indiana community. The organization helps 3000+ children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities live their best lives by participating fully in their communities.
Partnership Takeaways: Through our partnership with Noble, we found that “Dream It. Live It.” is not just their tagline, but their way of empowering their community members to aim higher and reach their goals. Noble started as a school in the 50s because students with IDD were not accepted and the community came together to create a positive and aspirational environment.

Introducing: Spirit Club Foundation
Mission: Spirit Club Foundation builds healthy and inclusive communities by providing access to fitness and wellness opportunities for people with disabilities.
Partnership Takeaways: Partnering with Spirit Club Foundation has shown us the importance of accessible exercise classes and activities for the disability communities. Exercise and gym access is a particularly challenging struggle for many people with disabilities and Spirit Club Foundation provides an incredible, warm, and welcoming environment. Physical fitness and group interaction are essential for positive well-being and health and everyone should have access to both.
